cookiemonster76 if you're scrolling through my collection, stop and listen to this. A barnstormer rock album from start to finish that manages to be fun and touching at the same time. The fact that it's a concept album based on a real tradegy just makes it even more impressive, but even if that wasn't the case it'd be worth owning Favorite track: One Love Down.

about

The Healing is a tribute to my son, Anders Meisenheimer.  Anders was a brilliant, creative, loving, handsome and talented young man. Anders died of an accidental overdose on March 5th, 2019 at the age of 22.  This album follows his addiction.

The story begins with the innocent addiction to his girlfriend in middle school to the fun times partying with friends in high school. Next, his "social" partying started to become more frequent and involve heavier drugs (cocaine, heroin) as a means to escape the vicious demons in his brilliant mind.

As Anders' addiction to heroin deepened in his early twenties, it took a heartbreaking toll on our family. We tried to help him, but felt helpless. He admitted [to me] that he wanted to get clean. But sadly, that did not happen.  Morpheus, the God of Dreams, is depicted in the song Arms of Morpheus as a metaphor for the sensations that heroin gives its users.  You're Finally Free is the heartbreaking end to a mother's heart.

The very last song, "egxdd" features Anders playing free flowing piano.  The piece was recorded by Anders on his phone and perfectly illustrates the darkness and light that bounced within him.  The album also features his artwork. The Healing is meant as a healing to my heart, but also meant to raise awareness of the opioid epidemic that is taking so many loved ones at an alarming rate.

When it all comes down to it, if you need an escape - escape through love.

Thank you for your support! We're all in this together!  Love, Kristen
